Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #80

My Facebook friend, Chris, posted this picture yesterday on Facebook. After a long all-nighter with a group of high school and middle school girls and boys at Relay for Life, I was not in a good way to come up with a photo of my own today. Chris graciously agreed to let me use his. The resolution was reduced in the Facebook transfer process, but the beauty of the picture still shines through. The sun does seem to like to grace the Cape with its rays. Thanks Chris!

Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #79

And one last picture from my jog. A daycare group of Cape cuties out for a stroll. The quality isn't great since I took it from a distance with my iPhone. I didn't want the lady to think I was some weird stalker. I kind of am, but not of the dangerous sort.

Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #78

Another encounter of the animal kind on my jog yesterday. I came across this mallard spending his shore leave in a yard on River Bay. I usually see them in mating pairs when they come up into the neighborhood. I don't know where this lonely sailor's lady friend might be. Maybe she's tending the nest.

Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #77

Caught this pup keeping an eye on things as I jogged past his house today. I wonder what percentage of Cape households have dogs? It's probably over 50% on my street.

Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #75

What do you know, a picture of Deep Creek. Obviously not taken today. This was one of my Mother's Day shots. Let's hope it looks more like this again soon - after tomorrow's rain.

Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #74

"Mama said knock you out..."

A Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow Cape Moms! My knockout roses have been knocking themselves out for a couple of weeks now, and I finally got out with my camera this morning in my PJs to get some photos. I was a little lukewarm to knockout roses in the beginning. They suddenly turned up everywhere - a little too ubiquitous for my taste.

But they have worn me down with their brilliant enthusiasm and staying power. Anything that blooms this insanely and beautifully in my yard without me even trying is worthy of my appreciation. I wish you all a happy and restful Mother's Day, and if anyone gets in the way of that, just sick Mr. James Todd Smith (better known as LL Cool J) on them. "Mama said knock you out..."
