Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #128

Delivering our baby oysters to the Magothy River oyster reef. We were not in any hurry this year since none of the baby oysters survived the year hanging off of our dock. The storms that drenched the area last year - Irene and Lee - inundated the upper Chesapeake Bay with fresh water and polluted runoff, and as a result, the oyster population north of the Bay Bridge was decimated.

We were asked to deliver our host oyster shells to the designated location anyway to help establish the reef. We were happy to oblige with a quick ride out to the red buoy. These guys are now sitting at the bottom of the Magothy waiting for our Bay oysters to recover.
