Cape Photo of the Day - Photo #116

On an evening fishing outing yesterday, we came across the Pride of Baltimore II just south of Thomas Point. She was out for a casual cruise coming off an exciting week of tall ships in port commemorating the War of 1812. The wind had died down, and she was pretty much in irons with slack sails.

Her crew of young people decided to take the opportunity to have some fun and go for a dip in the Bay. They invited us to join them, and it was all we could do not to, but we were not dressed for the occasion. I couldn't help but imagine the original 19th century clipper ships traversing the Bay and their crews who must have joined in the same kind of fun.

I have other prettier pictures of the ship which I will share in the next few days. She was lovely to watch, even with her sails a bit slack. Her crew's enthusiasm made up for it.
